” in 2012 dominiq V.D.wall., next to his sculptural work, again began to paint on canvas.  Amazing how he evokes, even on a smal size of canvas, an immeasurable environment, a pale and empty landscape.  Always sober, but painted very precisely.  Usually the landscape is sparsely populated by very fine lines with a curved head.  With such a line-figure, the black motif that he calls ‘pioneer-tree’ becomes immense.  Elsewhere in the empty expanse, black smoke comes out of a crack.  In another, more clouded vista, it looks like an industrial plume of smoke, looking utterly unhealthy.

A post-apocalyptic universe ?  Not quite.  the artist always evokes the pivotal moment between the end of an era and a new beginning.  There is something of the sublime in the air, as Irish philosopher Edmund Burke defined it through horrors and devastating natural forces that are both terrifying and enchanting.”
